A little over 3 years ago, my friend Blarney and I had this conversation:
Blarney: You’re funny. You can write and use the serial comma. And crazy stuff happens to you. You should start a blog.
Thoughtsy: What’s a blog?
Shortly after, Thoughts Appear was born.
When I met Blarney almost 5 years ago, despite her West Coastness and my East Coastness, we immediately hit it off.
Blarney: Hi! I’m Blarney. Nice to meet you!
Thoughtsy: I like you. You’re cool. I’m gonna make you my best friend!
Blarney: Uh…. Lucky for you, I like clingy.
Blarney and I discovered we had a lot in common, and we embarked on many adventures together. Some of which, I blogged about.
-
She saved me from drunk guys hitting on me.
- We were roomies.
- I introduced her to Empire Records.
- We went to Hawaii (not really) and New Orleans (really).
- We became groupies for the Old 97s and Eytan and the Embassy.
- She let me borrow her dog Murphy for bean bag fluffing.
But in a couple days, Blarney is leaving. She’s moving back to the West Coast. And to make matters worse, my West Coast brother was home for a visit, and he leaves the day before Blarney leaves.
WHY IS EVERYONE ABANDONING ME?!
Someone needs to invent Pop-Tart-flavored ice cream ASAP. This is an emergency, people!

Aw, poor Thoughtsy!! If I wouldn’t miss you too much, I would suggest that the West Coast is calling you . . . but I won’t suggest that, because . . . PLEASE DON’T GO, THOUGHTSY!!
I have pop tarts. And booze. We will use them to dry your tears. (Not literally, because, ew).

I have a friend who sells alcohol-infused cupcakes at the farmer’s market, but what about — hear me out — alcohol-infused Pop-Tarts?
April 18th, 2013 at 7:53 am
1. Next time you visit Hippie, I’m gonna need you to bring me one (dozen) of those cupcakes, and 2. I’ll get to work on the alcohol infused pop tarts. Seems like a perfect match to me!

Todd, and does your friend ship said alcholic cupcakes?
April 19th, 2013 at 6:56 am
If you can make fig-bacon Pop-Tarts, you can make alcohol-infused Pop-Tarts, Misty. I have faith in you.

I am on the East Coast (of Canada, in Nova Scotia). Coincidence or not? I think it means we’re destined to be besties and I can be a replacement for Blarney and we can watch Empire Records all the time and I will crush up bits of Pop Tarts into ice cream for you because, duh, that’s what besties do. Let me know your Thoughts (pun) and I’ll bump a friend for you.
April 19th, 2013 at 6:57 am
I love puns. And I love Canadians. Woo-hoo!

Ugh, that always sucks when a close friend/sister leaves! You should move out to live in her area!
April 19th, 2013 at 6:58 am
I’m considering it.
April 18th, 2013 at 9:34 am
Don’t worry, you’ll always have use! 🙂
April 18th, 2013 at 9:35 am
*Us, you’ll always have us!
April 18th, 2013 at 9:40 am
That sucks.
Although, if Blarney wasn’t moving we never would have heard about those alcohol-infused cupcakes. And alcohol-infused Pop-Tarts would not be in your future.
April 19th, 2013 at 6:59 am
I guess Blarney did take one for the team.
April 18th, 2013 at 9:56 am
Maggie Moo’s or that penguin place on Main Street probably have Pop-Tart mix-in’s. Just a thought, Thoughts.
I will never forget the first time I met Blarney. She rocks the zombie look. Farewell, Blarney!
April 19th, 2013 at 6:59 am
She does make a pretty zombie!

Why can’t I find one city that encompasses everything I like about all cities, with perfect weather, and then make all my friends and family move there?
April 18th, 2013 at 11:23 am
HOW DID I MISS YOUR POST ON EMPIRE RECORDS? I don’t wanna brag, but I can recite it word for word. Makes everyone want to watch it with me. Probably.
April 19th, 2013 at 7:01 am
It’s my favorite movie, too! I can also recite it. Maybe we should put on a production?
April 19th, 2013 at 11:20 am
As long as I can play the roles of Lucas, AJ, and Mark(c). Then I am IN
April 18th, 2013 at 1:27 pm
Here’s a solution: you two need to get jobs capping bottles at a brewery and turn your lives into a modern day reality show version of Laverne and Shirley called Blarney and Thoughtsy. Then you need to send me a bunch of the beer that you cap.
April 19th, 2013 at 7:02 am
Maybe we could hire you as a taste tester?
April 18th, 2013 at 2:34 pm
That sucks my friend, you deserve to eat pop-tarts dipped in alcohol with ice cream on top!
Hugs
Uru
April 19th, 2013 at 7:02 am
Whoa…all 3! Nice!
April 18th, 2013 at 4:41 pm
Hey! You figured out how to condense your email alerts! I could not find that for your the other day to save my life. Good thing it wasn’t on the line…
Bummer about your friend and bro. You’ll have to make room for another, friend that is.
April 19th, 2013 at 1:34 am
Okay, I’m here. I will walk you through this. DO YOU HAVE ENOUGH POP TARTS?! This is no time to be a hero!
April 19th, 2013 at 7:03 am
There’s no such thing as enough Pop-Tarts. I have a semi-acceptable amount to get through the weekend.
April 19th, 2013 at 6:28 pm
Well at least there’s that. it’s a start.
April 21st, 2013 at 1:30 pm
Don’t worry – we’re all still here for you.
I know. That’s probably not much of a consolation. Sorry about that…
April 21st, 2013 at 9:12 pm
Sounds like you need to head to the West Coast or at least a lot of visits there 🙂
April 22nd, 2013 at 5:35 am
oh no! I get all anxious when people move away. Change unfortunately is inevitable (I dont have to like it though!)
