Once You Pop…

Welcome to another installment of Taste Test Tuesdays! This might actually become a semi-regular thing. Maybe. Probably not.

This time I opted for salty food: potato chips.

Boo and Radley helped with the taste test.

Macaroni and Cheese Chips

Radley: (::a thumbs up on one hand with another hand in the bag and a mouth full of chips::)

Agreed, Radley. I was afraid they would taste like regular cheesy chips, but there’s definitely a cheesy noodle aftertaste.

Mozzarella Marinara Chips*

Boo: Not enough marinara.

A boy after my own heart…except I think he got a bad chip because I tasted a lot of marinara. And I have high standards because I’m a sauce hog girl.

If we (When are you taking me out for dinner and drinks?) ever share food with dip, you’ll need to eat fast stab me with the spoon order extra dip. The cracker, bread, whatever is just a vehicle for the dip.

Seriously. No one says this:

  • “One order of nachos, please. And hold the cheese and salsa. I just want the chips.”
  • “I’d like the pita bread and spinach dip only without the spinach dip.”
  • “Thoughtsy and I will split the crab dip.”

Only say this last one if by “split,” you mean you’ll be eating the bread while I shovel the crab dip directly into my mouth using my fingers a spoon.

Consider yourself warned.

*This flavor is Esme’s favorite.

What’s Next? Cupcake-Flavored Bacon?

It’s Taste Test Tuesday again! Have you noticed the influx of cupcake-flavored and cake-flavored food? I taste tested all of it.

A local fudge and ice cream shop has cupcake ice cream. A few weeks ago, Kiefer let me try a bite of his, and I demanded we return so I could get my own.

It’s a little melty because SOMEONE (ahem Kiefer) took forever to choose a flavor.

Thoughtsy: I’d like the cupcake ice cream in a cup. Extra sprinkles please.

Scooper: Have you tried it? Because a lot of people don’t like it.

Kiefer: She’s tried it. Why don’t people like it?

Scooper: A lot of people think it’s too sweet.

Kiefer and Thoughtsy:  Too sweet? BWAHAHAHAHA!

That’s right. I live in a town of amateurs.

I should also mention that Dairy Queen’s Blizzard of the Month is Confetti Cake. Maybe I just got a bad one, but there was hardly any cake in it. FAIL!

And last, but not least, the food that holds a special place in my heart: Confetti Cake Pop-Tarts. Mmmmm….

Taste Test Tuesday: Larabars

After a recent trial with MyFoodDiary.com, I learned a few things about my eating habits:

  1. I eat a lot.
  2. Sometimes I don’t get enough iron.
  3. I seldom eat enough protein.
  4. I eat entirely too much sugar. Who knew? Duh….

So I decided to cut back on sugar eat more protein. You know what has protein and is healthy? Larabars.

And LeashieLoo and BlissfulBrit eat them all the time, so I bought a few different flavors.

  • Cherry Pie Bar: I do like cherry pie. I wish it was a cherry-pie-with-ice-cream bar.
  • Blueberry Muffin Bar: I love blueberry muffins, so I was really excited to try it. But it wasn’t sweet enough for me.
  • Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Bar: I don’t think it really tasted like cookie dough. Except for the texture. I still liked it though.
  • Carrot Cake: This was ok. Unfortunately, it was missing the cream cheese icing.

If you’ve never tasted a Larabar, you should know they’re  not crunchy. They’re soft and chewy, which I prefer. I liked the Cherry Pie flavor the best.

I want to try the Chocolate Coconut Chew and Key Lime Pie bars, but they continue to elude me.

Has anyone heard of a key lime pie conspiracy? First I can’t find the Key Lime Pie vodka, and now the Larabar…Is there a shortage of key limes?
