I’ve always worn my hair long…except for two times in my entire life.
The first time I was about 4. My friend cut her hair short, so I had to do it, too. Then…I cried.
Exhibit A
The second time my hair ended up short unintentionally. I wanted curly hair in 5th grade. And that meant a perm…except my hair ended up crimpy, stinky, and not even shoulder length. I cried…again.
Exhibit B
Removed so I don’t die of embarrassment.
So when I decided to donate my hair, I had to wait until it was long enough that I wouldn’t end up in tears after cutting off 8 inches.
Exhibit C
I heard that Pantene donates a higher percentage of hair, so I donated my hair to them instead of Locks of Love.
Just in time, too, because my hair is turning gray fast.
Checked off another item on the 35 Before 35 list!

About a month or so ago, I saw your doppleganger at my hair salon having hers cut off to donate. If she’s reading this, I’d just like to apologize for the creepy stare. She just really looked like you, and, apparently, is as good-hearted.

Way to go, Thoughtsy! (Still, I would love to see exhibit B….)

I had no idea there was another option than Locks of Love. I’ve thought about donating a dozen of times because my hair grows like a chia pet exposed to that purple goop from Despicable Me 2. I’ll definitely have to look into that.

Reading this while sitting on the bathroomfloor with Caribbean Mahogany on my head. The gigantic gray hair up front would not shut up in the mornings. Good for you for donating.

Good for you!

I just came across your blog this very moment, so hello and nice to meet you! I’m jealous that a) you’re still in your 30’s and b) you have no gray hair. Cue: my tears.
PS-if there was a ever a motivation to cut hair, I’d say donating must be a top choice. Good on you!

Oh I have gray hair. Just not enough to disqualify me from donating. But my whole family grays early so I probably won’t be able to do it again.

Another place you can donate is Children With Hair Loss. They take any kind of hair, color treated or not. Congratulations!

Congratulations!!! And happy to see no tears at all 😀 I donated my hair to Pantene a few years ago as well. Now growing it out again…and then will probably get sick of it as soon as it’s long and chop it all off once more lol

Good for you! My hair grows slowly so I’ve never been able to do that. Now that I’ve been coloring it for 30 years it’s so fried nobody would want it.

What a great idea! Well done you .
