It’s Taste Test Tuesday again! Have you noticed the influx of cupcake-flavored and cake-flavored food? I taste tested all of it.
A local fudge and ice cream shop has cupcake ice cream. A few weeks ago, Kiefer let me try a bite of his, and I demanded we return so I could get my own.
Thoughtsy: I’d like the cupcake ice cream in a cup. Extra sprinkles please.
Scooper: Have you tried it? Because a lot of people don’t like it.
Kiefer: She’s tried it. Why don’t people like it?
Scooper: A lot of people think it’s too sweet.
Kiefer and Thoughtsy: Too sweet? BWAHAHAHAHA!
That’s right. I live in a town of amateurs.
I should also mention that Dairy Queen’s Blizzard of the Month is Confetti Cake. Maybe I just got a bad one, but there was hardly any cake in it. FAIL!
And last, but not least, the food that holds a special place in my heart: Confetti Cake Pop-Tarts. Mmmmm….

The only thing that sounds worse than cupcake favored bacon is bacon flavored cupcakes. ***shudder***
May 30th, 2012 at 6:30 am
I’m not a fan of bacon, so they both sound icky to me.
May 29th, 2012 at 7:45 am
That’s a lot of cake flavors. I will admit, when I stopped by Yogicastle last week, I got a mix of cake batter/dulce de leche yogurt. It was ridiculously delicious! How are the pop tarts?
May 30th, 2012 at 6:30 am
The Pop-Tarts were yummy. I had to eat one cold though due to a lack of toaster. I bet they’re glorious when they’re warm.
May 29th, 2012 at 7:48 am
Now I want ice-cream. And #NewPopTartflavors was trending yesterday on twitter. Thought of you!
May 30th, 2012 at 6:30 am
Awwww….
May 29th, 2012 at 7:49 am
I want cupcake flavored ice cream!
May 29th, 2012 at 7:50 am
Cake flavored coffee! Oh wait…that’s what a caramel frap is, right? It NEEDS more sprinkles!
May 30th, 2012 at 6:31 am
Hmmmm…maybe I should try one. Does it taste like coffee. I don’t like coffee.
May 29th, 2012 at 8:19 am
Hehe you can out sweet all of them! But I draw the line at cupcake flavoured bacon. Bacon sandwiches followed by cupcakes gets a big thumbs up though!
May 29th, 2012 at 9:25 am
Sweee-eeet! Like literally and I imagine you’re still running on that sugar buzz too, (I think I am just by looking at those sweet treats!) 🙂
May 30th, 2012 at 6:32 am
Whenever I start to slow down, I just refuel.
May 29th, 2012 at 10:06 am
My family was completely disfunctional when it came to breakfast food. Mom insisted that we all have things like eggs, pancakes, waffles. unsugared cereal or fruit… things that were (get this…) good for us!
PopTarts, and all the “good” cereals were strictly forbiden. Naturally, I considered this child abuse. Hence, my childhood spanned 15 years of The PopTart Wars.
Once I moved out, I’d tell her that I ate PopTarts for every meal. (Actually, I ate cardboard covered in jelly… that was all I could afford. So at least I was getting my fiber.)
May 30th, 2012 at 6:33 am
Un-sugared? What’s that?
I hope I never have to resort to eating cardboard jelly. If that ever happens again, let me know. I’ll send you some Pop-Tarts.

Reminds of people that put chicken or pineapple and ham on a pizza.
May 30th, 2012 at 6:33 am
I don’t understand the pineapple either. Fruit? On pizza?
May 29th, 2012 at 10:22 am
cake and sprinkles really do make life worth living.
May 30th, 2012 at 6:33 am
True dat.
May 29th, 2012 at 10:43 am
I must say, I don’t like cake/cookies in my icecream. They get mushy and it ruins the nice icecream texture. If it was just the flavour, I’d be all for it, but once they throw hunks of cake in there, it’s game over.
May 30th, 2012 at 6:34 am
That’s ok. Just means more for me!
May 29th, 2012 at 11:23 am
If I said this post didn’t make my week I’d be lying. I love cupcake anything. And DQ.. Sweet jesus yes! I know where I’ll be stopping tonight!
May 30th, 2012 at 6:35 am
I hope yours has more cake than mine. The cake-to-ice cream ratio was off in mine, and it was disappointing.
May 29th, 2012 at 12:26 pm
Shut the front door! Confetti cake Pop-Tarts. Okay, do you think anyone will miss me if I run to the store right now??
“I live in a town of amateurs” really hit my funny bone.
May 30th, 2012 at 6:35 am
As long as you bring some back to share, you’ll be fine.
May 30th, 2012 at 7:05 am
I never knew these things existed either. My kids would love them. (ok me too I’m sure…)
May 29th, 2012 at 1:00 pm
Be careful that you don’t get too attached to those Pop Tarts. Kellogg’s has a way of getting you addicted to their food products (prolly by sneaking crack into the ingredients- known comply on the street at sugar and red #3) and then, the minute you realize that you can’t live without said product…. BAM! They yank it from the shelves. Withdrawal is hell. I still miss their Streamers fruit snacks.
May 30th, 2012 at 6:36 am
It says, “Limited Edition,” so at least I know to stock up or substitute with the smores flavor.
May 30th, 2012 at 10:44 pm
I suppose that is fair warning. It’s like a guy saying to you “we are just screwing around, this isn’t serious.”
May 29th, 2012 at 1:01 pm
New item on my shopping list – those poptarts!
I had bacon cupcakes recently in Chicago ! http://www.morecupcakes.com/
May 30th, 2012 at 6:40 am
Glad I could steer your shopping cart in the Pop-Tart direction.
Those cupcakes look fancy!
May 29th, 2012 at 1:12 pm
I put bacon IN my cupcakes…does that count?
May 30th, 2012 at 6:40 am
Impressive!
May 29th, 2012 at 1:34 pm
I would be one of the “too sweet” amateurs. :p
May 30th, 2012 at 6:41 am
It’s ok. I forgive you. It’s people like you who make sure there’s enough ice cream left for me.
May 29th, 2012 at 2:44 pm
Oversweet? What is that? 😉
And I am all for updating ice cream and pop tart flavours!
Cheers

Now we just need someone to make Pop-Tart flavored ice cream.
May 29th, 2012 at 3:02 pm
The first time I went to a Cold Stone Creamery I had cake batter ice cream. A very large one because that’s how my family rolls. I have to admit that by the end I never wanted cake batter again…for at least two days.
May 30th, 2012 at 6:43 am
Mmmm…cake batter ice cream. With mix-ins?
May 30th, 2012 at 11:26 am
I believe I had chocolate chips. Even then, I knew the rules.
May 29th, 2012 at 6:32 pm
Cupcake ice cream..this could ONLY be topped if you put cupcake ice cream..on top of a cupcake! OOHH!
May 30th, 2012 at 6:43 am
Kiefer suggested that because there was a cupcakery across the street. I was so proud of him.
May 29th, 2012 at 8:12 pm
Woah! Woah! Why have I never tried these pop tarts? My life is incomplete.
May 30th, 2012 at 6:44 am
You haven’t tasted greatness until you’ve tasted these.
May 29th, 2012 at 8:24 pm
Ah! You guys get all the best food!
We only have cupcake flavoured cupcakes. And I’ve never seen a pop-tart in this country. Life seems a little darker over here because of it. Lesigh.
May 30th, 2012 at 6:46 am
What country is that? I’ll write Kelloggs personally to try to remedy the Pop-Tart situation.
May 30th, 2012 at 12:43 am
I don’t understand how “cupcake” is a flavor. Cupcakes come in all different flavors. And could you really tell the difference between chocolate cupcake ice cream and chocolate cake ice cream?
Great. Now I’m craving cake batter ice cream.
May 30th, 2012 at 6:47 am
I think they would taste the same, but I think by calling it “cupcake ice cream,” please believe they’re eating less cake and therefore, less calories.
May 30th, 2012 at 6:39 am
I’m tired of seeing cake/cupcake flavored things popping up all over the place. Granted, I understand I’m likely biased due to dating someone who worked at a bakery for a couple of years. Still though…if I want a Pop Tart, I want a Pop Tart…not a cupcake. Same goes for ice cream. Cake batter ice cream was a terrible idea created to try to save the dying cake industry (please note I have zero facts to back this up, and that statement is intended for hyperbole only).
May 30th, 2012 at 6:49 am
I’m going to pretend I didn’t read this comment.
What’s your favorite Pop-Tart flavor then? I think mine is Smores. And while I like smores, Pop-Tarts are more portable than a real smore. And the Pop-Tart takes less prep.
June 1st, 2012 at 1:44 pm
My favorite flavor of Pop Tart is brown sugar and cinnamon.
May 30th, 2012 at 7:08 am
This is my favorite trend. I demand all things to taste like cupcakes. Even this bacon you speak of.
