…I’m also my mother’s only daughter.
But I’m well on my way to being the favorite child…which isn’t saying much since my only competition is my brother, Lunchbox.
Last Christmas Lunchbox got my parents a Blue Ray DVD player.
Thoughtsy: What the heck, Lunchbox? Are you trying to make me look bad? We could have at least gone halfsies.
Lunchbox: Well, I missed a couple Christmases, so this makes up for it.
So this Mother’s Day I decided to bring in the big guns. Last weekend I took my mom on a Mother-Daughter trip…to New York City to see Newsies (which was awesome).
Take that, Lunchbox!
Now I just have to figure out Father’s Day. Usually Dad and I spend some quality time together…changing my car’s oil…so maybe I should buy him a car.

OMG NEWSIES! ARE THEY BACK???
… that’s all I got. Was there something else to this?
May 11th, 2012 at 6:47 am
You got the most important part. I didn’t know you were a Newsies fan. Does Canada resemble a Newsie?
May 11th, 2012 at 9:30 am
OMG if you were an adolescent who liked boys and missed “Newsies”, I am profoundly sorry.
Kinda like missing “The Labyrinth” a few years before and “Empire Records” a few years later.
May 10th, 2012 at 7:55 am
That’s SUCH a cute pic, Thoughtsy!! And what an awesome Mother’s day present!! :)) Yeah, a new car would be nice.
May 11th, 2012 at 6:47 am
Do you think a Matchbox car would work just as well as a real car?
May 11th, 2012 at 8:55 am
You know, my grandmother always wanted a Winnebago RV. One Christmas, her son made a big deal of leading her out to the driveway where he had a die-cast 8″ Winnebago parked. LOL, so it’s definitely doable… 🙂

I have 4 siblings to compete with, so it would seem there’s not much hope for me. I have one sister that’s perfect (I wish I could be mad about that but she really is awesome) and then last year my other sister made this really beautiful card that made my mom cry happy tears. GAH.
May 11th, 2012 at 6:48 am
4 siblings! That is a lot of competition.
May 11th, 2012 at 7:24 am
Thoughtsy: I dunno if you’re awardsy, but I passed you a prize.

Top daughter marks for you!
May 11th, 2012 at 6:48 am
Woo-hoo!
May 10th, 2012 at 8:15 am
So does Lunchbox know the race is on or are you just going to sideswipe him? Show him what daughters are made of!
May 11th, 2012 at 6:48 am
I went with the sideswip method. He’s in CA right now, too, so he looks extra bad.
May 10th, 2012 at 8:22 am
Definitely puts the rest of us to shame!!!
May 11th, 2012 at 6:49 am
Just for this year. Next year I’ll be back to flowers and dinner.
May 10th, 2012 at 8:58 am
Yeah, my brother is a real screw up. A total child at 34 years old. So, by default, I guess that makes me the favorite.
Trip to NYC for mother’s day? You totally win. Lunchbox can take that Blu-ray and shove it! And yeah, if you buy your dad a car, you would go in the daughter hall of fame.
May 11th, 2012 at 6:55 am
Do I still make the Hall of Fame if I buy an old clunker for a couple hundred that my dad has to fix up?
May 10th, 2012 at 9:31 am
I love that your brother’s name is Lunchbox. I want to get a dog and name it Lunchbox now because I am so tickled by it. I get excited about naming things. I totally want to go to Newsies! I saw that it was out and I got really excited, until I remembered I live in the midwest and it will be a while before I can get anywhere close to it.
I am also my Mother’s favorite daughter. I, too, have only a brother to compete with. He also got them a DVD player for Christmas, but I still win because I remember birthdays and write really touching notes in cards. If my card doesn’t make my parents cry, it is a failure.
May 11th, 2012 at 6:57 am
He was nicknamed Lunchbox because he looks a little like a skinnier version of Silent Bob.
Your cards bring tears? You should give lessons in card writing!
May 10th, 2012 at 9:45 am
I think my parents resent me because I was so good, it tricked them into having the OTHER two.
May 11th, 2012 at 6:57 am
That’s hilarious!
May 11th, 2012 at 6:35 pm
Hahaha! The OTHER two. Nicely delivered.

How was the show? I can’t think of a better gift. I look forward to when my daughter finishes college, gets a job and can afford to get me such a treat. Luckily, we both love Broadway shows.
May 11th, 2012 at 6:58 am
The show was great! I definitely recommend it!
May 10th, 2012 at 11:29 am
Wowza..you rocked Lunchboxes socks! Way to one up your own flesh and blood.
May 11th, 2012 at 6:58 am
We have a bit of a rivalry going. Every time we go to my parents’, we count the number of pictures of each of us to make sure they’re even.
May 10th, 2012 at 11:59 am
The position of favorite may have been predestined by her name selections: you are an abstract noun and your brother is concrete.
That says it all right there.
May 11th, 2012 at 6:59 am
I love English logic.
May 10th, 2012 at 12:12 pm
You reminded me I need to put up a Mother’s Day post for Babs on Sunday. Gotta maintain my #1 Child slot.
Awesome gift, indeed! Just curious – does she share your love of Pop Tarts?
May 11th, 2012 at 7:00 am
She does like Pop-Tarts and toaster strudels. When we had toaster strudel, she made the ultimate sacrifice and didn’t use frosting on hers so my brother and I got extra frosting.

That is the cutest pic ever – and I can see why u are the favoured daughter 😉

What a nice gift! I’m glad other people are mentioning Mother’s Day, I almost forgot.
May 11th, 2012 at 7:01 am
I forgot one year…it wasn’t pretty.
May 10th, 2012 at 4:51 pm
I was my mother’s favorite daughter. Then my brother ruined it all by marrying the perfect woman. Jerk.
May 11th, 2012 at 7:01 am
Oh no…I’ll have to keep an eye on Lunchbox.
May 10th, 2012 at 5:43 pm
Awww, little Thoughtsy! So cute 🙂
May 11th, 2012 at 7:02 am
Why, thank you! I look like I have a little phohawk.
May 10th, 2012 at 6:10 pm
If you make your father’s new car a Batmobile, not only will you be hands down better than your brother, but he’ll also be extremely jealous because every man loves the Batmobile. Your whole family will refer to it as The Day Thoughtsy Bought the Batmobile. And Lunchbox will start being super nice to you and buying *you* awesome gifts in the hope that one day you’ll replicate The Best Gift Ever for him.
Also your mother will be all, “He got a Batmobile and I only got a trip to NYC?” so you’ll have to work extra hard on Mother’s Day next year. Luckily 0lunchbox will be so busy trying to impress you, he’ll pay for that Barbie Dreamcar and let you put your name on the card.
May 10th, 2012 at 10:04 pm
Who can top this idea? Or this comment. (I vote this for your “favorite comment from the last blog” award. Queen Gen, I think I will follow you know.) And yes, the Batmobile would put you in the Guiness Book of World Records for the Best Daughter to Ever Be Born. (You’ll even beat Eve, ‘cuz I am pretty sure God would vote for you because He would want a Batmobile too, but Eve didn’t get it for Him for Father’s Day when she was around.)
May 10th, 2012 at 10:19 pm
Maybe even God will start trying to impress Thoughtsy so he can get a Batmobile…?
May 11th, 2012 at 7:05 am
Someone find me a Batmobile! Stat!
Does the Barbie Dreamcar come in pink or purple?
May 11th, 2012 at 6:38 pm
I don’t know. Surely it will be Lunchbox’s job to research that for you?
May 10th, 2012 at 10:14 pm
Wow, trip to NYC and a new car? Thoughtsy be ballin’!!
May 11th, 2012 at 7:05 am
I should include some small print that the new car is a Matchbox toy car.
May 11th, 2012 at 6:26 am
Yes, a car would be nice. It says it all and you don’t have to hassle with a card.
May 11th, 2012 at 7:05 am
Do I need a bow?
