I ran a 5K on Sunday.
I ran for Cakes for a Cause.
I ran to help young people who are transitioning out of the foster care system.
I ran for a free cupcake…even though it was hot as balls outside.
I ran for a real cupcake. Not this one. This cupcake is my friend. Friends don’t eat friends who are dressed as cupcakes.
Update: Here’s proof that I actually ran. I had a cute cupcake crown, too, but it fell off.

“Friends don’t eat friends who are dressed as cupcakes.” Wise words about something which is easy to forget. Thanks for reminding me. Next time I’m about to eat a friend dressed as a cupcake, I’ll remember this.

I appreciate this. Kudos to you.

Wahoo!!! Great job on the 5K! OMG, the heat this weekend made for some grim, gritty running. Several of my friends ran Boston and they called it a Massacre rather than a marathon. And what a good cause!
April 19th, 2012 at 7:07 am
I can’t imagine running more than a 5K in that heat. Good for your friends!
April 18th, 2012 at 7:20 am
Very awesome! I have cupcakes but they’re not my friends… I suppose it probably doesn’t help that I devour them (when they’re not looking!)
On smother note, kudos to you & your cause! Great effort for a great charity!
April 18th, 2012 at 7:38 am
I love when someone’s priority out weighs the original purpose. More charities should do this. But take it up a notch: Pop-tarts for a Purpose! Knowing your love of these pastries, these charities would do well!
April 19th, 2012 at 7:08 am
I would run more than 5K for a Pop-Tart. Maybe not…since they’re so easily accessible.
April 18th, 2012 at 8:18 am
I wonder how many times your friend heard, “Hey there, Cupcake!”
April 18th, 2012 at 8:32 am
Hahaha I don’t know whats better, the cupcake costume or the socks he’s wearing with it.
April 19th, 2012 at 7:08 am
You can’t see it in the pic, but his socks says, “Hot Stuff.”
April 18th, 2012 at 9:17 am
Awesome that you ran a 5k, awesome that it was for a good cause, awesome that you got a free cupcake. They gave you a T-shirt, too, right? Because, what’s the point of running a 5k unless they give you a T-shirt that says, “Oh, yeah. I ran a 5k. I’m that cool.”
April 19th, 2012 at 7:09 am
I signed up too late for the free t-shirt. It’s ok though because I have one from the first time I ran it. Those t-shirts are usually too big for me, so I use them as pjs.
April 18th, 2012 at 9:25 am
Ulgh it WAS so hot on Sunday, I can’t believe you ran. Outside. But I might have, too, for a chance to see that costume in person.
Gooo Thoughtsy!
April 18th, 2012 at 10:22 am
“Hot as balls outside?” “Hot as balls outside?” Now that’s a visual, (or a textural) for ya!
April 18th, 2012 at 10:27 am
Wow – way to go, Thoughtsy! And go and go… That’s a great cause you ran for, including the cupcake!
April 18th, 2012 at 10:30 am
Wait, you RAN? Damn, now I feel all inferior because I’m only going to WALK for my 5K this weekend. Oh well, it’s probably gonna rain on me, so maybe I’ll pick up the pace a bit. Good job on your run.
Love the cupcake. Now I know what I want to dress as for Halloween. With those huge ass gloves as well, of course! 🙂
April 19th, 2012 at 7:12 am
By “run,” I mean “jog slowly.”
April 18th, 2012 at 11:02 am
Wait – moral high ground and cupcakes? Where do I sign?!?
April 18th, 2012 at 11:02 am
Fabulous! I’d run to the store for cupcakes. In my car.
April 18th, 2012 at 11:30 am
what a cool cause.
Next year can you please dress as a cupcake? I won’t eat you. Promise.
April 19th, 2012 at 7:13 am
I don’t know that I’d be able to run if I was in a cupcake costume. But we’ll see….
April 18th, 2012 at 12:01 pm
i would run TO a cupcake…
“hot as balls”…is that like “cold as a witches tit”? we seem to have anotomical extremes here…
April 18th, 2012 at 1:20 pm
You are my hero… and damn girl you are hot!!
April 19th, 2012 at 7:14 am
Hot as balls?
April 18th, 2012 at 3:18 pm
Woo-hoo! Congrats!
All the cupcakes my coworkers are bringing to the office mean I’d better start running pretty fast here. And soon.
April 18th, 2012 at 3:50 pm
I applaud you for being friends with a cupcake. That’s real diversity. And what a sweet thing to do!
I started running on the treadmill at the Y a month ago and I’m up to 3 minutes. Then I walk for 5, then run for another 2 before I collapse in a defibrillator-worthy heap. I figure I’ll be ready for a 5k in another 10 years…right about when I’m ready for a nursing home.
April 19th, 2012 at 7:16 am
I actually like running on the treadmill because of the AC. Also, when I tend to run with other people, I start out too fast and tire out quickly.
April 18th, 2012 at 4:10 pm
Too good my friend – supporting a good cause, supporting cupcakes and exercising? True qualities of a heroine 😀
Cheers

Way to go! Cupcakes and helping others! You can’t lose!
April 18th, 2012 at 9:20 pm
You look elegant and graceful in your running photo, however the man next to you has stiff arms and looks like a sunglasses robot. Beware he will steal the cakes!
April 19th, 2012 at 7:17 am
I used him as my motivation…to get to the cupcakes before him.
April 18th, 2012 at 10:48 pm
Yay you!! I can’t wait until I can manage that!
April 19th, 2012 at 12:35 am
I can’t think of a better reason to run a 5K than cupcakes. I suppose helping kids in foster care is a good reason, too. Hmm. What if the kids in foster care get cupcakes because you ran? Everyone wins.
April 19th, 2012 at 7:18 am
I hope they got cupcakes, too. Cupcakes all around!
April 19th, 2012 at 1:03 am
You left out the most important part — what flavor was the cupcake?
April 19th, 2012 at 7:18 am
I thought it was a given…chocolate.
April 19th, 2012 at 2:52 am
What! Exercise is needed in exchange for free cupcakes!?! Madness I tells ya, madness!
April 19th, 2012 at 7:19 am
Nah…I eat plenty of cupcakes without exercise. The exercise just made me feel better about having a cupcake and then ice cream later.
April 19th, 2012 at 10:41 am
Ghirardelli sponsored a hot chocolate race. Do I look like someone who would turn down free chocolate anything? And after I ran my marathon last fall, I drank two chocolate milkshakes.
April 19th, 2012 at 6:33 pm
Running for a free Cupcake? Nah, I just write a check and then buy a damn cupcake and get fat, geez I’m an idiot!
April 19th, 2012 at 9:17 pm
“Friends don’t eat friends who are dressed as cupcakes.” I’m so glad you prescribe to that philosophy. I myself don’t believe in eating friends dressed as Pop Tarts–even if they do come with frosting. 😉
